CIGNA to Launch Cost of Care Estimator
New technology takes the mystery out of medical payments for patients and health care professionals
This spring, CIGNA is launching a new technology that will inform patients and health care professionals of the total cost to be charged for medical services, based on the individual’s specific CIGNA health plan. The Cost of Care Estimator enables health care professionals to create an estimate of a covered individual’s payment responsibility that is specific to the treatment or service, and is based on a real-time snapshot of the individual’s coverage. By providing itemized cost estimates and explaining the sources of payment, the Estimator will help individuals understand their benefits and how much they owe for specific services.

New addition to myCIGNA.com suite of online tools helps individuals easily understand their health expenses
CIGNA has teamed up with Intuit, the industry leading maker of Quicken® and TurboTax® financial management products, to deliver Quicken Health Expense Tracker. This cutting edge online tool gives individuals the guidance they have been asking for to better understand their health-related expenses and was developed based on data gathered from more than 300 qualitative and 7,500 quantitative consumer interactions.

Enhanced Phone Filing Means Faster Start to Disability Claim Evaluation
Immediate permission to access medical information also provides early opportunity for referrals
CIGNA has enhanced its claim filing services with a new secure verbal authorization system that allows individuals reporting disability claims to give immediate permission – right over the phone – for CIGNA to obtain the medical records needed to review disability claims. This enhancement not only simplifies claim reporting, it also enables CIGNA to jumpstart the claim evaluation process.
