CIGNA Expands Reporting of Its Quality Scores as Part of Efforts to Improve the U.S. Health Care System
More Information Publicly Available than Ever Before

An independent organization that has for over a decade measured the efforts of U.S. health plans to improve health care quality has released its annual report on the “State of Health Care Quality.” Data from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) shows that CIGNA's health plans continue to raise the bar on quality, improving or already achieving high scores in a number of key areas such as colorectal cancer screening and childhood immunizations.

New and expanded retiree product lineup released

CIGNA announces an expanded range of products and services to meet the varying needs of today’s retirees as well as for those getting ready to retire. The purpose of the TheraCare program is to help improve the focus on quality health care, promote patient safety and productivity, and help increase adherence to care guidelines.

New CIGNA Dental Online Tool Helps Gauge Risk for Gum Disease
Tool encourages early diagnosis and treatment

Research linking oral and overall health continues to mount indicating prevention and treatment of gum disease are important steps in maintaining overall health. With this in mind, CIGNA Dental has recently released a new online Periodontal Disease Risk Assessment tool, designed to help consumers and their dentists identify factors that might increase the risk for gum (periodontal) disease.

Latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates report a decline in the number of uninsured

The national elections are now just weeks away and access to affordable, quality health care remains near the top of the list of policy concerns for the presidential candidates and the public. We’ve heard estimates of the number of uninsured Americans, and ideas offered by both candidates to reduce that number. Proposals for real health care reform won’t work unless they provide a means to increase access, contain costs and improve the quality of care.
